Bookkeeper

Job Type: Full Time

Summary
Under guidance, will create and analyze financial reports and ensure legal requirements compliance, process accounts payable and receivable and manage invoices and tax payments. Will accurately maintain company day-to-day financial transactions financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing of monthly and quarterly financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP).
  • Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
  • Checking the business entities’ invoices, all credit card transactions, authorization of expenditure ensuring each department spends efficiently within budget and savings where possible.
  • Perform checks of posting process – Verify transactions are captured correctly in day book, suppliers’ ledger, customer ledger and general ledger.
  • A contact with the banks ensuring authorized transactions.
  • Enter data, maintain records and create reports and financial statements.
  • Process accounts receivable/payable.
  • Bring the books to the trial balance stage.
  • Support in payroll process as required in a timely manner.
  • Support tax preparation – work with current team.
  • Prepare for and facilitate quarterly audits.

 
Experience

  • BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
  • Proven bookkeeping experience
  • Experience in accounting software packages, like QuickBooks
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and organised
  • Experience in MS Office
  • Retail experience.
  • Familiarity with company policies and legal guidelines of the field
  • Detail oriented with strong emphasis on accuracy and organization.
  • Ability to work long shifts.
